Link # 133 - Improving our CONCIOUS CONTACT WITH GOD.
Greetings in the name of Jesus.
This is the first Sunday of Advent which is an important season on the Christian colander. This is a time of year when Christians around the world consciously begin preparing for Christmas. We are not simply referring to decorations, and turkey dinner etc. Advent is a time when we prepare out hearts to celebrate the wonderful truth of the season “God with us”. We have not been left alone! We hope that truth will sink deep in your hearts as we move towards December 25.
Most of you will also be aware that this season brings several traditions for us at Bloor Central. Lets look at what is going on…
We have kicked off our annual Christmas Kettle Campaign. This is the season we have to focus on fundraising. We are so grateful that the public is supportive of the work we do in our community. The challenge is that we have to go out in the community and stand on our Christmas Kettle stands to get their support. We are incredibly grateful for those who are willing to go out and spend 3 hours at one of our locations! All of the money we collect goes straight into our services to the community including our Christmas Party, food bank, community meal (7 ate 9), etc.. As of November 30 we are already at $7,137.85 which is fantastic. Our goal is to reach $35,000. If you have some time you can offer please contact Greg Peterson who is coordinating our efforts. December 10 we are gathering in our parking lot for “Carols by the fire”. This is a fellowship opportunity to simply come together and sing some carols by the fire. We add some hot chocolate to make it even more Christmassy. Come and join us for a fun time together at 6pm.
December 17 is Bloorstock. This is the Bloor Central version of a Christmas concert. We enjoy Christmas music featuring the talent of Bloor Central. This is another time of fellowship but it is also a great time to invite friends to come and get a flavor of Bloor Central. We are in the Chapel starting at 6pm.
Christmas Sunday Service - 10am December 24
Christmas Party. Everyone has a place to go at Christmas. We’re heavy into the planning that includes a full turkey dinner, music, games, and karaoke. Doors are open from 12-3pm.
With all the activity on the horizon I hope you don’t lose site of what is happening this weekend. Our Community meal (7 ate 9) is still going strong on Saturday evenings from 4-6 pm. Please drop by and say hello if you are anywhere near by.
On Sunday we will be exploring Step 11. “We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us, and power to carry that out. Over the past few weeks we have fallen a bit behind in our youtube videos. Today (Friday) we hope to have up Step 9 and Step 10. By the end of the weekend we plan to have up Step 11. So if you have missed a week, or if you want to review some teaching from the previous Steps please check out our youtube channel.
Bloor Central looks forward to seeing you this weekend.
