Link #149 - Promoted to Glory
Greetings in the name of Jesus.
Dear friends I wanted to inform you that my father, David Hammond was promoted to glory in the early house of this morning. Many of you will know that The Salvation Army uses the phrase “Promoted to Glory” as a way of describing someone passing from this life on earth to an eternity in heaven. We describe it this way because of our certainty that my fathers commitment as a Christ follower assures his eternal reward in heaven. Certainly we will miss my Dad, as will my sister and her family; however, we find great comfort in the truth that he is now in a place where there is no suffering, no pain, no tears.
Some of you will remember my father from his days at Bloor Central. He was a character! We are in the middle of making funeral arrangements right now and will have details by tomorrow (Wednesday). At this point the plan is that the funeral will be this Saturday, February 24 probably sometime late morning or early afternoon. I will send out the details as they become available. Obviously Karen and I will not be around Bloor Central much this week as we deal with family issues. We do plan to be back at 789 Dovercourt this Sunday, February 25, for our 10am service. Major Barb Stanley will be doing the Bible lesson. We are so grateful for Barb and look forward to her teaching on Sunday.
We will miss my father, no doubt. But the last year and a half have been difficult times for our family as we saw my dad struggle in many different ways. At this time I am overwhelmed with gratitude for me father and rejoice in the hope Jesus offers.
God bless you.
